Prior to co-founding Altamar, José Luis worked for Lehman Brothers for approximately 10 years, first in New York and subsequently in London, where he was one of the senior partners of the Lehman Brothers Merchant Banking Group (a.k.a. Trilantic Partners), being responsible for the origination and execution of direct investments in European Buyouts. Prior to joining the Private Equity team at Lehman Brothers, José Luis worked in the Investment Banking division as a member of the Global Technology Group, specializing in mergers and acquisitions, initial public offerings, and capital raising transactions in the technology sector. Before working at Lehman Brothers and prior to obtaining his MBA, José Luis worked at Credit Lyonnais in their Mergers and Acquisitions department in Madrid between 1991 and 1993.
José Luis holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Business Administration from Cunef (Madrid, 1985-1990) and completed an MBA with honors from Columbia University (New York 1993-1995). José Luis became a registered representative in the Financial Services Authority “FSA” of the United Kingdom in 1997, and a Series 7 and Series 63 representative of the national association of securities dealers (“NASD”) in New York in 1995.
